If you have been on my socials – you will see I’ve been managing sciatica recently. Having had the same issue 11 years ago, it is clear my Pilates and exercise practice has helped to keep me going – I’m managing fairly well this time in comparison to 11 years ago when I couldn’t walk or drive.
So I opted for the steroid injection a few weeks back to try to help symptoms. Here are five things you might expect:
- Initial Relief: You may experience some immediate relief from pain or inflammation due to the anti-inflammatory properties of the steroid.
- Temporary Discomfort: It’s common to experience some soreness or discomfort at the injection site. This should typically subside within a few days.
- Gradual Improvement: The full effects of the injection may take a few days to a couple of weeks to fully manifest. You might notice a gradual reduction in pain and inflammation.
- Potential Side Effects: While rare, some individuals may experience side effects like headache, increased blood sugar levels, or a temporary decrease in immunity. If you experience any unusual symptoms, it’s important to contact your healthcare provider.
- Follow-up Care: Your healthcare provider may schedule a follow-up appointment to assess your progress and discuss further treatment options if needed.
Remember, individual experiences can vary, so it’s crucial to communicate any concerns or changes in your condition with your healthcare provider.
